Prem. The film is being produced by New theatres, which is returning to mainstream cinema almost after 40 years.

Speaking of its revival, Dilip Sircar son of late B N Sircar said, “Our company had formally closed during the 50s. However, under Sarkar productions and India Film Laboratory, we made a few films with Uttam Kumar, Kanan Devi, and Asit Choudhury. Recently, I did a few projects with the government of India and Doordarshan. That gave me confidence and Aadur Prem is the result.”

Director Somnath Gupta, who is making his first full-length feature film said, “It is a story in the backdrop of Iraq-America war and how love triumphs over hostility.” Talking about the cast he shared, “We have brand new actors in the film as the script demanded fresh and innocent faces.”

The 70-lakh budget film is mainly shot in Murshidabad since it is set in a village. The music is yet to be composed as there are no lip-synched songs in the movie.

Playing the lead is debutante Debalina Chatterjee. “The name of the film is based on my character Aadur in the film. She is a simple girl from Murshidabad who unknowingly falls in love with a Muslim boy. The film revolves around the journey of this girl who faces challenges in life,” said Debalina, who is also doing a Hindi film Chaar Diwane Ek Diwani by Vikas Mishra.

Samadarshi Dutta who is playing the love interest of Debalina in the film was found bullying his screen sister Ena Saha, on the sets. “I am playing the role of a Muslim boy Suleman, who is a son of poor blacksmith in the film. There is more to the story than a Muslim guy falling for a Brahmin Hindu and there is no religious bias,” said Samadarshi, who is two films old having done Icche and Saathi Amar Bondu Amar before.

Spotted shooting an emotional scene on the sets was Mithu Chakraborty playing mother of Aadur along Bidipta Chakraborty in the role of a neighbour in the film. The other noted actors in the film are Biplab Chatterjee, Rudranil Ghosh and Soumitro Chatterjee.

The film is 85 per cent complete and will release by February or March 2010.
